Pongal has always been mistaken 4 a religous festival 4 the hindus. However, it is NOT a religious festival. It's just a HARVEST FESTIVAL. A festival to thank all the elements that were part of the successful harvest. & it is a few days long festival.
BOGI - Burning of all the unwanted (please do that 2 urself soon!)
THAI PONGAL - It is 2 thank the Sun God
MADTHU PONGAl - It is 2 thank the cows 4 their help in farming (very soon there will b TRACTOR PONGAL)
KANNU PONGAL - 4 the women 2 pray 4 the safety of the men (i also dont understand.refer to wiki)
KAANUM PONGAL - U visit people & celebrate & eat alot!

& of course, the irresistable aspect of all festivals... food. forever would there b food.
& i just realise i have nv really eaten pongal before (or mayb i would have eaten w/o me realising what it was.haha!)
SHALL TRY DOING IT MYSELF 4 A CHANGE!!!! :)
